Naming:
Madhupur Thana, famous for its traditional Shalban Bihar, was established in 1896. It was upgraded to an upazila in 1983. The name Madhupur is derived from Madhu.
History:
Hundreds of years old forest Madhupur. Sometimes it was under the control of kings, sometimes it was under the control of zamindars. However, it came under the Forest Department in 1982. The Madhupur Forest was declared a national park in 1972 under the Wildlife Act of 1974.
